🐠 Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)

The Classic Vivid Orange Body With Three Bold White Bands • A Flexible Host-Seeking Species • One of the Best Beginner Marine Fish

📋 The Ocellaris Clownfish, often called the False Percula Clownfish, is one of the most popular and widely available marine fish in the hobby, with the same iconic vivid orange body and three bold white bands outlined in black that made clownfish a household name well beyond the aquarium world.

It comes from shallow reef flats and lagoons across the Indo-Pacific, from Southeast Asia through Indonesia and the Philippines to parts of northern Australia, living in close symbiosis with select host anemone species in the wild. Every Ocellaris Clownfish we ship is feeding well.

It's naturally hardy, easygoing, and highly adaptable, and will readily host in a range of anemone species if offered, though it adapts just as well without one, often claiming a coral head or piece of rockwork as a substitute territory instead. Its exceptional hardiness, manageable size, and status as one of the most widely captive-bred marine fish in the world make it an outstanding first saltwater fish. It's fully reef safe, compatible with corals and most reef invertebrates. It reaches up to 8cm, so a 75L tank suits it well.
