📋 The Superblack Percula Clownfish is a striking designer variant of the true Percula Clownfish, displaying a deep, dark black body, with some individuals reaching an almost pitch-black finish, while others retain a touch of orange on the belly. This colouration develops over time: juveniles start out the classic bright orange and gradually darken to black as they mature.
This melanistic pattern is the result of selective captive breeding from Percula Clownfish bloodlines, which naturally inhabit sheltered reefs across the Western Pacific, including the Great Barrier Reef, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. Every Superblack Percula Clownfish we ship is feeding well.
In every other respect, this variant shares the same hardiness, social nature, and beginner-friendly care as a standard Percula Clownfish: it's peaceful and can even be kept in a school in a large enough tank, though it may show aggression toward other clownfish genera. It's fully reef safe and won't harm corals or invertebrates, and will readily host in a range of anemone species if offered, though it adapts just as well without one. It reaches up to 8cm, so a 75L tank suits it well.
