📋 The Mocha Storm Clownfish is a designer morph of the Common Ocellaris Clownfish, first made available to hobbyists in January 2018, bred by crossing a Black Storm Clownfish with a bright orange Ocellaris. The result is a striking blend of rich mocha-brown, reminiscent of freshly brewed coffee, patterned with irregular white blotches, echoing the Black Storm's signature pattern in a warmer coffee-toned palette instead of black.
This species doesn't occur in the wild; it's a captive-bred-only designer strain that doesn't correspond to any wild-collected variant. Every Mocha Storm Clownfish we ship is feeding well, and as with other captive-bred clownfish, it's hardy, disease-resistant, and well-suited to beginners, readily accepting a wide range of prepared foods.
Like all clownfish, this species is a sequential hermaphrodite, with the largest individual becoming reproductively female and the next largest becoming male. It's fully reef safe, generally ignoring corals and invertebrates, and will host in a range of anemones such as Bubble Tip, Carpet, Sebae, or Ritteri Anemones, though it doesn't require one to thrive. This species has been bred successfully in home aquariums, making it a popular starter project for hobbyist breeders. It reaches up to 8cm, so a 75L tank suits it well.
