This species reaches a substantial adult size of up to 30cm (12"), and like all pufferfish, its body carries a toxic mucus called tetrodotoxin, most commonly released only when severely stressed or dying, though genuine caution during handling still matters — always use a container rather than a net, and never expose it to air.
 
📋 The Narrow Lined Pufferfish, also known as the Manila Puffer or Striped Puffer, has a genuinely elegant, pillowy tan-to-grayish body marked with thin, concentric brown-to-orange stripes running its length, reminiscent of wood grain.
Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, this species inhabits mangrove swamps, seagrass beds, and reef flats.
This is a genuinely one of the hardier pufferfish available in the trade, and, like other members of the Arothron "Fat Puffer" genus, displays a real degree of personality and intelligence, quickly learning to recognise its keeper and often appearing to beg at feeding time. We want to be honest that this species is genuinely shy at first, becoming noticeably more confident over time. It's a naturally messy eater with a genuinely significant bioload, so strong filtration and a protein skimmer matter. We want to be upfront: this species is not reef safe, and will genuinely eat small fish, ornamental shrimp, crabs, snails, urchins, sea stars, sponges, clams (including tridacnid clams), and tubeworms, and may nip the fins of slow tank mates.
