🐠 Two-Spot Anthias (Pseudanthias bimaculatus)
A Red Body With Irregular Pink Bars • One or Two Dorsal-Fin Spots on Males • An Active, Fairly Common Shoaler
 
📋 The Two-Spot Anthias, also known as the Twinspot or Bimac Anthias, gets its name from the one or two small spots on the male's dorsal fin. Males have a pinkish head fading to a vibrant red tail, with irregular pink horizontal bars running along the body, while females are a softer pink with yellow dorsal, anal, and tail fins.
It comes from the Indo-West Pacific, from East Africa to the Maldives and Indonesia, where it inhabits coastal drop-offs in small groups at depths of roughly 25 to 90 metres, feeding on zooplankton high above the reef. It's fairly common in the trade compared with many deep-water anthias. Every Two-Spot Anthias we ship is feeding well.
It's fully reef safe and does best kept as a small group of one male with several females, or singly in a smaller tank, since males can be territorial toward their own kind. It reaches up to 14cm, so plan on at least 280L.
