⚠️ Important Information — Please Read First

We want to be genuinely upfront on this one. The Ventralis Anthias is genuinely collected from deep, secretive cave and rubble habitats at depths of 26-120 metres, and multiple sources report it can take several weeks to adjust to bright reef lighting, spending much of that time hiding in the rockwork. Please speak with our team about your tank's lighting setup and general activity level before purchasing. We also want to be honest that housing two males together can lead to genuinely fatal aggression, so only ever keep one male per tank.

📋 The Ventralis Anthias , also known as the Longfin Anthias or Longfin Basslet, displays genuine striking sexual dimorphism — males show a metallic purple body with a yellow head and intricate purple spotting along the back, while females display a subtler metallic purple with a solid yellow dorsal stripe.

Native to a genuinely wide range across the Western and Central Pacific, from southern Japan and the Mariana Islands to the Marshall Islands, Great Barrier Reef, and as far as the remote Pitcairn Islands, this species is genuinely secretive by nature, typically encountered alone, in pairs, or small groups within caves and rubble along steep drop-offs.

It's fully reef safe and does best kept as a harem of one male with several females, or singly. A mid-sized or larger female genuinely tends to adapt more readily than a fully mature wild-caught male, which can genuinely struggle with the transition to aquarium life.
