📋 The Yellow-Lined Anthias , also widely known as the Luzon Anthias or Blood Spot Anthias, displays genuine striking sexual dimorphism — males show an orange-red head fading to pink, with three genuine yellow-to-red-orange wavy stripes along the flanks and a distinctive red spot on the dorsal fin (the genuine source of its "Blood Spot" nickname), while females are a plainer pinkish-orange with an orange band from the eye to the pectoral fin, lacking both the stripes and the dorsal spot.
Native to the Western Pacific, from Japan south to Australia and east to Vanuatu, this species is genuinely collected from meaningfully deep water, typically 25-45 metres, along steep reef slopes and drop-offs.
We want to be genuinely upfront: this is considered an advanced-level anthias, and given its deep-water origin, it can genuinely take longer to acclimate under bright reef lighting, so subdued conditions and patience during introduction help. It's fully reef safe and does best kept as a harem of one male with several females, added as one of the last fish to an already-established tank — but we want to be honest that housing two males together can lead to genuinely serious aggression, so only ever keep one male per tank.
