Tangs & Surgeonfish
For Marine Aquariums

Tangs and surgeonfish are the workhorses and showpieces of a marine reef: valuable algae grazers with vivid colours, dramatic colour changes, and real personality. At #Fisheee Aquarium Store Phuket Thailand, every listing gives clear guidance on tank size, temperament, and diet, so you can choose the tang that suits your aquarium. #FishShopPhuketThailand

    Our Tangs & Surgeonfish Collection

For beginners, the Yellow, Convict, and Chalk-adjacent Kole Tangs are hardy, classic choices. The Blue, Purple, and Scopas bring bold, familiar colour, and the Achilles, Powder Blue, and Sohal are striking showpieces for high-flow tanks. For giants, choose the Unicorn, Vlamingii, or Dussumieri, and for rare finds, the Gem, Black, or White Bar Surgeonfish. The bristletooth group (Kole, Chevron, Tomini, and more) are efficient algae and detritus grazers, and the mimic tangs change dramatically as they mature. #FishShopPhuketThailand

    Care tips:

    • Tankmates: most tangs are territorial toward their own kind and similarly shaped species, so plan your stocking order carefully

    • Diet: nearly all tangs need a steady, algae-rich diet; nori, spirulina, and live rock grazing keep them healthy

    • Caudal spines: all tangs carry a sharp, blade-like spine near the tail, so handle with care and use a rigid container rather than a net

    • Size: from compact 15cm bristletooths to 70cm giants, so check the adult size before buying

    • Flow: species like the Achilles, Sohal, and Whitespotted Surgeonfish need strong, turbulent water movement
